Babylon was an ancient Mesopotamian city located in what is the present-day Iraq.
The city was for a long time ruled by many not native dynasties but eventually became the capital of Hammurabi’s Babylonian Empire.
The city was known for housing one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and, according to the myth, the Tower of Babel .
‘Babylon’ is the alternative version of Naakhum’s song ‘Nimrod’.
